MADINA means “CITY” in Arabic — a fitting name, as we’re inspired by our love for the vibrant, beautiful and culturally rich city of Cairo.
We established Madina Hostel in 2020 with the aim of providing a safe, hassle-free and affordable space for travelers from around the globe. Whether you’re a solo adventurer, a laid-back couple, an adventurous group, or a family looking for a cozy, clean and social space, our team is here to make your stay smooth and full of joy.
Our modern, thoughtfully designed hostel offers the perfect retreat after a day exploring Cairo’s energy-packed streets. Relax and recharge in one of our three common areas — ideal for sharing travel stories, planning your next adventure, or simply enjoying a free cup of coffee. Feel at home in our fully-equipped kitchen, where you can cook meals together and connect with fellow travelers over great food and laughter. Located in the heart of Downtown Cairo, Madina Hostel places you at the perfect spot to explore the city. Step outside and immerse yourself in Cairo’s vibrant cultural scene, buzzing cafes, local restaurants, bars, and stunning historic architecture. We’re just steps away from iconic landmarks like Tahrir Square, the Egyptian Museum, and the Nile River. Public transport is at your fingertips, with the main bus station and subway within walking distance, and the train station just a short taxi ride away. Need cash or currency exchange? ATMs and exchange offices are right around the corner.
Arrival from airport (CAI/ SPX)
The best way to get from any of the two airports to Madina Hostel is by taxi. Choose an Uber, taxi at the airport or arrange an airport pickup with us directly. Unfortunately, there is no reliable public transportation from the airports.
Arrival from train station
There are two stations in Greater Cairo City: Cairo and Giza train station. The Cairo station is closer to the hostel. Take an Uber or taxi to get to the hostel.
Arrival from bus station
The Go Bus Tahrir station is the closest to the hostel. It is a 15min walk but with crossing several big streets. It is recommended to take a taxi / Uber.
Can you pick me up?
Yes, it will be our pleasure to arrange a pickup from the airport, train station, bus station or anywhere else. Please contact us to arrange it in advance.
